Femton ögonblicksbilder från de dödas rum

Verket består av femton fotografier av interiörer i olika mausoleer. Bilderna är fotograferade med blixt genom små fönster och gluggar och visar upp rum som sällan möter de levandes blickar eller dagens ljus. Det är ögonblicksbilder från de dödas egna rum där tiden tycks stå stilla. Men helt stilla står den aldrig, dammet fortsätter samlas, färgen på väggarna flagnar och kistorna vittrar sakta sönder. De individuella bildernas titlar består av kyrkogårdens namn, datum och klockslag då bilden togs.

Fifteen snapshots from the rooms of the dead
– from a grave-house on Kinnarumma cemetery to a mausoleum on Sophien-Friedhof in Berlin, 2023

The work consists of fifteen photographs of interiors of different mausoleums. The images are taken with flash through small windows and openings and show us rooms that rarely meet the eyes of the living or the light of day. They are snapshots from the dead’s own rooms where time seems to stand still. But it’s never really still, dust keeps accumulating, the paint on the walls is peeling and the caskets are withering slowly. The images have also separate titles based on the the name of the cemetery, the date and the time when the photograph was taken.
